In 2009, rumours of a new Apple tablet were everywhere. No one knew any details, but the reputation Steve Jobs had built for secrecy meant speculation was rife while excitement built towards the launch event.
Meanwhile, in London, a chain of events began that resulted in us kicking off our relationship with Apple; a relationship that endures to this day.
Our R&D team took the initiative and mocked up a foam-board prototype with a greenscreen UI to illustrate the new tablet on YouTube. It went viral, convincing Guinness World Records of this game-changing device and greenlighting the first-ever digital version of the book.
Our collaboration has placed us at the forefront of UX and UI software design over the past decade, producing a series of world firsts with the most respected media owners in the world. We have worked on projects with the BBC, Penguin Random House, Warner Music Group, Hollywood Records, LucasFilm, and Porsche to deliver multiple world-first apps. Our agile team created the first-ever iBook by a band for Led Zeppelin, and used our 3D gaming capabilities to create Star Wars: Scene Maker – putting gamers in the shoes of George Lucas directing the action.
Finally, the Apple watch provided our teams with the perfect opportunity to recommend a wearable extension to the recraft the iPhone Car Connect apps we originated for Porsche.
After 10 rewarding years envisioning and realising the possibilities for several sectors using Apple devices and ecosystems, we remain connected to their developer relations and iTunes teams, and we are an active member of the ePub vendor conversion program.
Our Led Zepplin iBook generated $450,000 in cover sales in Y1, and our anthology for The Doors brought 45,000 words and 11 albums to a new generation of fans.
