Brandwidth has been at the forefront of the immersive content landscape since releasing our first immersive video over a decade ago. Since then, we have crafted a wide range of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), and haptic solutions to help push brand messages in more exciting and memorable ways. 

Our VR solutions have varied from creating virtual navigable 3D worlds to help showcase a brand’s hero products, to taking football fans on tour with the UEFA cup through stereoscopic virtual reality, and developing prototypes for the future of immersive shopping experiences. 

Evolving technology

As personal gadgets have gained the ability to run progressively more advanced systems, AR solutions have become a core part of how we create more engaging, impactful, and memorable experiences for our client’s audiences. 

These have included model detection to explain how cars work in car dealerships, machine learning-based image processing for analysing appliance power consumption, pattern recognition for augmenting print work, and building detection for situational awareness. The latter formed a key part of the system we built to locate fire fighters in burning buildings as a part of our partnership with Mid & West Fire & Rescue Service. Every project is crafted from the ground up to make the best of whatever tech is available and suitable for the specific use case, but that means we are no stranger to researching and capitalising on what new kit can do.

Immersive experiences enhance engagement and memory retention

Immersive experiences can create a sense of immersion that isn’t possible through 2D media. When users interact with a fully immersive and interactive virtual environment, or see digital content integrated with the real world, it triggers a stronger sensory experience, allowing users to engage on a deeper level. These truly immersive experiences mean users are up to four times more likely to recall information than in traditional media.  

Immersive experiences, especially VR, can provide a multisensory experience, including sight and sound, again leading to higher levels of memory retention. 

Augmented Reality

Augmented reality (AR), refers to a technology that overlays digital information on a user’s view of the real world; this can be in the form of images, videos, text, or overlays created by a mix of digital and real-world content.  

AR can be used by multiple industries to enhance brand experiences, whether for training, education, product promotion, advertising, or navigation and wayfinding. For retail or eCommerce, AR can allow end users to visualise and interact with products, whether it’s placing a product in their home to visualise it in situ before purchase or allowing users to interact with a product to learn more about its benefits and usage to promote purchase.  

AR can create incredible, immersive campaigns and advertisements. Brands can use posters, products, or QR codes which users can scan to trigger an experience. AR filters can also be created on existing social media platforms to allow users to modify their appearance or try on clothes or products.  

AR is extremely accessible, with most new smart devices giving users the ability to interact and experience, therefore, to reach the mass markets AR is the perfect solution.  

AR technology continues to improve, with iOS and Android devices constantly upgrading and enhancing their AR technology, making AR even more accessible and impressive. AR creates experiences that allows users to interact with the real world and be enhanced with digital content helping to transform the way we interact with our surroundings. 

Virtual Reality

Virtual reality (VR) creates a simulated, 3D environment that users can explore and interact with using specialised VR headsets. It creates a sense of presence and immersion you can’t get with other technologies, with users transported into a new world or place, using computer generated spaces.  

VR revolutionises the way consumers engage with brands, creating unparalleled immersive experiences and providing a level of involvement not possible with other technologies. VR can provide the opportunity for users to engage with a brand’s products or services in a much more engaging and memorable way, leaving lasting impressions.  

Using VR can provide the ability for users to resonate more with your brand’s storytelling, by transporting users into a virtual world. Most people will have had little interaction with VR before and this can leave them to have a novel experience they won’t forget. Brands can create virtual showrooms, retail spaces, or stores where users can shop for products without even having to leave their homes.
