Designing a new kitchen or bathroom is exciting. But deciding what your new space will look like based on tiny samples of fabric and tile is a challenge. As providers of luxury kitchen and bathroom surfaces, DuPont wanted to overcome this by showcasing their offering in a new, innovative way when attending events.
Rising to the challenge, we designed an immersive shopping experience like no other, inviting shoppers to ‘step inside’ their dream kitchen at KBIS in Florida.
From research and conception to design and execution, we created a bespoke virtual reality model featuring over 20 of DuPont’s Corian and Zodiaq kitchen tops and transported shoppers to a virtual world where they could walk around and experiment with DuPont’s full range of colours, textures and materials.
The experience was a huge success and was rolled out across all of DuPont’s key markets, including translating the whole model into Mandarin for use at trade shows throughout Asia.
Having created the VR experience in Unity, we were able to seamlessly adapt the technology to create Spaces by Design from Corian; a market-leading iOS app that allows users to browse DuPont’s Corian range of kitchen worktop options and visualise how they will look in their own home.
Brilliantly easy to use, customers can upgrade their kitchen by placing new surfaces, and even virtual islands, into the room, customising the materials and colours to create their dream home. With geo-location technology working to display products specifically available to them.
Following the success of the iOS launch, the app was extended to Android, and even allows users to share their designs with friends and family once done.
