We’ve got updates from tech giants Google and Instagram, the ever-anticipated John Lewis Christmas advert, and Coca-Cola’s AI attempt at their iconic red truck – find out what’s caught the team’s attention recently!
GOOGLE CALENDAR’S NEW FULL-SCREEN TASK LIST
Google Calendar on Android just got a major update with full-screen task lists! If you’re used to seeing your tasks in Google Calendar on the web, now you can do the same on your Android device. It’s a simple but powerful update that lets you view all your tasks in one place, making task management a breeze.
Now you don’t have to jump between apps to manage your tasks. Just tap the Task icon within the Calendar app, and voila – you can see all your pending tasks, completed ones, and create new tasks without leaving the app.
This feature is already available for Google Workspace customers, individual subscribers, and personal Google accounts. It’s currently rolling out to Rapid and Scheduled Release domains, so keep an eye out. However, no word yet on when it’ll hit iOS devices, so Android users, you’re ahead of the game for now!
INSTAGRAM ROLLS OUT WHATSAPP-STYLE LOCATION SHARING
Instagram is adding a new live location feature that lets you share your location in real time for up to one hour! Whether you’re coordaining with friends at a concert or navigating crowded spaces, this new feature lets you pin your exact location and ensure you don’t lose track of each other.
Don’t worry about your location being shared widely. This feature is turned off by default and can only be shared privately in DMs. Plus, the location is visible to both parties in the chat but can’t be forwarded to anyone else.
You can see when location sharing is active, thanks to a handy indicator at the top of the chat. And if you need to stop sharing, you can end it at any time. The feature is rolling out in select countries for now, so keep an eye out!
This update’s all about pushing the best, most useful content to the top. Forget ranking tricks — Google wants content that actually helps people. So, if you’re delivering value, you’re golden. If not, it’s time to rethink your strategy.
If you see a dip in rankings, don’t sweat it. Google’s advice hasn’t changed: focus on making content that’s genuinely useful for your audience. Rankings may bounce back, but the best way forward is always people-first Content.
THE WAIT IS OVER: JOHN LEWIS’ CHRISTMAS AD IS HERE
It’s here! The John Lewis Christmas ad has dropped, and The Gifting Hour is already being praised as their most effective since 2019. The story? A woman searching for the perfect gift at Oxford Street ends up in a whirlwind of nostalgic memories—teenage arguments, pregnancies, and childhood laughs. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing the unofficial start of Christmas. It’s heartwarming, emotional, and makes you want to hit the shops. Well played, John Lewis.
